Senior Commercial Account Handler – Job Description
Whytematter are very excited to be supporting their Belfast Insurance client in the growth of their team to appoint two Insurance Commercial Account Handlers. Ideally this candidate will already have experience in the industry.
This company has seen a huge growth in recent years and it is a very exciting time to be joining the company. This company has been running for over 14 years in 2011, they provide insurance products for customers UK-wide through its Belfast City office. The company trades through Direct and Aggregator distribution networks, focusing on Personal & Business insurance covers.
This is a full-time, permanent position in a growing business. You will be a senior figure within the commercial department and responsible for commercial clients, coaching and development of junior account handlers who will handle property owners' business in the main.

Job Summary
- Providing full range of commercial SME related products including liability, package, professional indemnity and cyber insurance.
- Coaching and development of junior staff including monthly 1-1 and training.
- Maintain and retain existing business;
- Building relationships with new customers, identifying cross-sell opportunities and generating other business opportunities;
- Adhering to company processes and procedures, ensuring all activities are FCA compliant and meet the principles of TCF;
- Liaising with our insurers and other partners to resolve queries and win sales;
- Working towards personal, team and business performance and quality targets;
- Acting under own initiative to solve problems and develop the business;
Essential Experience:
- You must be able to demonstrate at least 2 years of experience in a commercial account handler role or similar and demonstrate competency with product knowledge.
Personal Specification
Academic:
- 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above (including Maths & English);
- Cert CII qualified preferred but not essential
Capabilities:
- Excellent client facing/communication skills;
- Ability to work as part of a team;
- Excellent IT skills including the use of Microsoft Excel and Word;
- Ability to multi-task;
- Ability to use initiative;
- Ability to take direction;
- Open GI experience preferred but not essential.
Experience:
- Commercial Insurance: 2 years (required)
