Marketing Account Manager
The role:
This is a key role within an ambitious and friendly award-winning agency. You will be a highly organised, motivated, and self-directed Account Manager. The role will involve the planning, implementation and evaluation of communication campaigns that will include among others advertising, digital and design.
You will either lead or work alongside the Head of Account to identify clients’ current and future communication needs in order to develop strategic and tactical solutions to achieve their objectives. You will be required to direct multidisciplinary agency teams and work closely with clients, at all levels, in order to build relationships based on respect and trust.
What this role requires:
• Strategic thinker with the ability to go beyond the client’s brief to provide a holistic thinking to problems.
• Ability to work with the Planning Department & Account Lead to help develop creative briefs including identifying key insights from background information and research findings.
• Liaison with the Media Department to develop media briefs including identifying key insights from background information, research findings and previous campaign learnings.
• Liaison with Creative Studio to brief, co-ordinate and rollout creative including production requirements.
• Excellent project management skills, planning ahead, prioritising, scheduling and administrating projects (including technical specification are being adhered to) across a portfolio of accounts in an effective manner.
• Ability to cost out projects and manage client budgets, maximising client value and revenue streams from each account.
• Creative sensitivity and ability to judge creative work and give constructive feedback.
• Knowledge of creative production processes including TV, Videography, Radio, Print, Photography and Digital/Online.
• Ability to build relationships and manage effective internal teams.
• Ability to build relationships with partner agencies, where appropriate.
• Ability to work on your own initiative and also as part of a team.
• Excellent listening skills with the ability to ask the right questions to identify the key communication issues.
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to create reports, briefing documents and presentations.
• Excellent verbal skills with the ability to both brief individuals and make presentations to client teams in a clear, persuasive manner.
• Good understanding of the media landscape including digital (in particular SEO, PPC, Display, Social, Email, Content), the current landscape and future trends.
• An understanding of web design development process including UX, scoping, project management frameworks, user testing and research.
• An understanding of Google Analytics and other analytical platforms and how to distil the most relevant / important information for our clients.
• Good understanding of digital production processes and keep up to date with new developments.
• Ability to keep up to date with the industry trends (networking, researching, reading blogs, and other news / information sources) to identify and share best practice across all disciplines.
• Management (projects) of an Account Executive, if appropriate.
Necessary qualities:
• 3rd level qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience, ideally in an agency setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Be passionate about delivering good work, open to new ideas and prepared to challenge constructively.
• Strong initiative with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills (open, friendly, and supportive attitude).
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to independently analyse alternative solutions and prioritise quickly within tight deadlines.
• Keen attention to detail (including ability to proof/edit grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc) with strong organisational and administration skills.
• Appreciation for the creative process and skilled at working with creative teams.
• Passion for motivating a multi-functional team to work collaboratively.
• A tough but fair negotiator; being able to think coolly in stressful situations; dealing professionally and objectively with both colleagues, clients and suppliers.
• Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines with occasional long hours.
• Ability to give and take constructive criticism.
• Understanding of the role of marketing communications within a broader business context to ensure the agency role is communications partner rather than supplier.
Financial accountability:
• Accurately estimate the agency time and 3rd party costs required to complete a job and work within theseparameters.
• Working with the Creative Production & Traffic Manager and Print Production Manager, evaluate competitive quotes for 3rd party services and ensure they are in adherence with any client procurement protocols or guidelines.
• Ensure budgets are submitted to client and approved prior to commencing any work.
• Flag potential budget spend / overspend to clients and manage this through.
• Accurately track and record hours.
• Review Gross Margin allocated to projects for assigned clients.
Working relationships:
• Reports to Head of Client Services.
• Works in conjunction with wider Client Services team.
• Teams with Strategy, Media, Creative and Production teams.
• Manages Account Management resource on specific accounts.
