Health and Safety Officer
Whytematter are excited to partner up with a leading supplier of agricultural inputs and animal feeds across the Northeast of Ireland.
Our client, now wish to appoint a highly motivated Health and Safety Officer with a proven ability to work on their own initiative and who can add value to the Health and Safety function within the business.
The successful candidate will be required to travel to their sites in Meath, Louth, Dublin, Kildare and Westmeath.
The Role:
Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for undertaking duties covering all aspects of health and safety in the workplace, including:
• Contribute to the development of the Company’s health & safety management systems;
• Conduct and update risk assessments;
• Ensure that employees and contractors are compliant with all health and safety legislation;
• Provide expert advice on health and safety matters to both managers and employees;
• Conduct investigations into accidents and near misses;
• Preparation of monthly reports and collating statistics;
• Conduct site inspections and provide training to employees;
• Ensure that our contractors’ codes of practice are up to date and adhered to by all employees and contractors.
The Person:
• At least two years’ experience in a Health and Safety Officer/Advisor role;
• Hold a 3rd level qualification in a related discipline. Consideration will be given to candidates that do not possess a third level qualification but can demonstrate at least five years’ experience in a Health & Safety Officer/Advisor role;
• Working knowledge and experience of implementing and managing hazard identification and risk management processes;
• Knowledge of ROI health and safety legislation;
• Experience of managing health and safety investigations;
• Experience of managing and implementing health and safety management systems;
• The ability to work on their own initiative within a dynamic work environment;
• Excellent analytical skills and a strong eye for detail;
• Excellent oral, written and presentation skills;
• A driving license and access to their own transport.
