THE OPPORTUNITY
They have an opportunity available for an Underwriter.
The Underwriter will work with a team supporting the profitable development of our SME account by underwriting a range of commercial risks within agreed processes and risk appetite, to achieve business development and retention targets.
They will have the opportunity to build relationships with a panel of brokers and expand their underwriting skills across our portfolio of products.
EXPECTATIONS OF YOU
They will negotiate with aligned brokers on allocated renewals, quotations and handle ad hoc enquiries. They will develop the ability to successfully negotiate with our broker partners and provide tailored solutions to both our broker and customer needs.
On a daily basis you will showcase your skills and knowledge by:
- Taking ownership of allocated cases and work proactively with the broker to negotiate the right outcome.
- Reviewing allocated cases and delivering underwriting decisions, following agreed processes at the designated authority level and with the necessary direction and support, to secure profitable business within the agreed risk appetite.
- Identifying non-standard or complex risks and escalating to ensure they are handled appropriately.
- Actively engaging in the identification, prioritisation, negotiation and winning of new business and profitable renewals, in line with agreed business strategies and delegated authorities.
- Managing customer interactions in an efficient, courteous and timely manner in order to deliver high standards of customer satisfaction.
- Contributing to the production of new and existing policy documentation to ensure they are accurate and issued in accordance with agreed service standards.
- Establishing excellent trading relationships across our broker panel to assist new business development and renewal retention.
- Develop and maintain good internal relationships to support the end-to-end delivery of the customer proposition.
- Promoting Generation Services and Underwriting a range of SME commercial cases consistently and profitably.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of: The commercial lines market, The regional broking marketplace & Legislation and litigation which could affect the writing of business.

ABOUT YOU, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS
Essential
Our Underwriter should have a minimum of 3 years Commercial Insurance experience, ideally in underwriting, but we will also consider candidates who have worked in broking or claims and can demonstrate the required skill set and possess good technical knowledge. They will have good all-around insurance experience and technical knowledge across a range of classes of insurance products.

- High level of motivation and resilience with a proactive attitude.
